Tournament Title

City Junior (12 and Under)

Format

Individual stroke play format. 6 divisions. There is no interdivisional play (e.g. No overall champion).

18 hole first round of stroke play determines flights within division. Approximately 10 per flight A second and final round is played the following day for all flights to determine the finish within all

Eligibility

BNGA eligibility rule apply.

Child must be 12 years old or younger as of the first day of the tournament.

Parent is defined as: Legal guardian of child.

Dates

Third Monday and Tuesday of July

Entry Fee

Charge from course + cost of trophies.

BNGA provides participation prizes at BNGA cost (since 2004)

Prize fund

No gift certificates are given. Courses may provide some additional prizes (buy 1 on get 1, free play, balls, etc.) but there should be no charge in the entry fee for these additional prizes.

Rules

Encourage leniency on the rule. Make this a learning experience and help the children understand. The younger the kid, the greater the leniency.

Whiffs do NOT count

Those communicated by the host course/Tournament Decision Committee.

The tournament will not run past the scheduled Sunday.

Sudden death playoffs for 1st place in all flights start immediately after the completion of that flight or at the courses discretion.

Approximately 10 per flight per division

5 Trophies per flight. Participation for all others in the field

Run like a normal event. Let 'em pick tee times Monday, pair them on Tue. based on Sat. results.

You'll need at least one parent per group.

Little guys probably need 1 per player.

Special

Closest to the pin, longest putt type event are strongly encouraged.

A starter going over the rules is necessary based on some of the experience of both adults and children.

The most important thing is for the kids to have fun.

History

Established in 1985. Royal Links Golf Course was the sole host course until 2004. They ran all aspect and developed its popularity. Now the Links has embraced the event and has fostered its participation.

Make-up dates:

Any completed 9 holes by the field is considered a full round. If 1 full round is not completed by end of day Tuesday, there may be no winner for that year if a substitute date can not be found.
